Episode 23 // Meaningful relationships don’t happen without intimacy. We limit ourselves when we think it's just about the marriage relationship and what happens behind our bedroom doors. Sure, that’s part of it! But family relationships all require intimacy. If we want to be a purposeful parent and develop close relationships with our kids, we must build intimacy.
There are two big struggles with intimacy: understanding it and building it. So in today’s episode, we are looking at 4 different types of intimacy. And then, we’ll talk about how to build intimacy into our family lives, how to create an intimate and meaningful home life... even when life feels overwhelming.

Episode 22 // It is so easy to fill the family calendar. We want to give our kids every opportunity! We want them to have fun new experiences. We want our own time for volunteering, work obligations, coffee with friends... not to mention the never-ending list of cooking and cleaning for the family. We get busy.
But do you ever think about the possible risks that this busyness brings to your family relationships?
As a family counselor, I have seen so many families struggle because of how busy life has gotten. How do we find the balance between saying yes to great opportunities, putting those onto the calendar, but still making time for building family intimacy, having fun together, and letting our kids (and ourselves!) rest and refresh?
My friend, this podcast episode is for you. I’ll explain 3 risks that our families face when we let the schedule get way too busy, as well as 3 tips that will help you find a healthy balance for your family. Whether you’re looking for work-life balance, sports-school-life balance, or anything in between, this episode will give encouragement, open our eyes, and help each of us find healthy boundaries for our family.

Episode 21 // Nothing is better than making someone we love smile. That’s the photo-worthy moment right there! The thing is... we sometimes put so much pressure on those moments to be photo-worthy that we miss the moment itself.
But what is the moment really about? It's about the special person you are celebrating. It's about their happiness, the relationship, and making them feel special. It’s not actually about the photo you can post on Instagram or meeting the expectations of the Pinterest posts that you scrolled through. It’s about your person.
Today, we'll take a look at 7 ideas for how to show your people that you love them. Simple ideas that don’t require a lot of money, create a lot of pressure, or take a lot of time. “Keep it simple” is sometimes the best way to celebrate someone, because we can keep the focus where it belongs… on them!

Finding joy in the Lord during seasons of pain and sadness
Friday Jul 09, 2021
Friday Jul 09, 2021
Episode 20 // Reading through the Bible, it is very clear that God calls us to be joyful people. Our lives are meant to be defined by gratitude and thanksgiving, worship and praise, rejoicing and love. But what about during our seasons of trial? What about when it feels like everything is falling apart around us? When I’m hurting, grieving, or feeling defeated and overwhelmed by life?
We are still called to find our joy in the Lord and to worship him. At these times, finding joy in the Lord is a spiritual discipline. In today’s episode, I’ll break down the simple and powerful truths of Psalm 100 so that we can better understand how to find joy even in our hardest moments, and why that is so meaningful in our lives.

Are you a perfectionist? Let’s uncover the biblical truth about perfectionism.
Tuesday Jun 22, 2021
Tuesday Jun 22, 2021
Episode 15 // I think it is human nature that we want things to be perfect. We want to be a perfect wife. We long for the perfect marriage.
And then what happens? We set unrealistic expectations of ourselves. We pour our energy into the tasks, projects, and relationships in front of us, trying to make everything perfect... and it never is. It can't be!
If you've wound up feeling like a failure because things aren't perfect, you're not alone. With this unrealistic and unbiblical goal in our hearts, we wind up overwhelmed and disappointed.
So many of us are perfectionists. And we pay the price for it with our mental health, our emotions, and the loss of time and energy for our most important people.
If perfectionism is something that you have struggled with, join me in today's episode. I'll share some of my journey dealing with the temptation of perfectionism and we'll look at some practical strategies that we can take when that temptation pops up.
